Giants To Promote Pat Burrell

By Bryan Rose

Well Bowker Maniac’s, you’re going to have to stash the ‘stash for at least a little while as the Giants have decided to send down the opening day right fielder.

Bowker will be banished sent to Triple-A Fresno in order to make room for Burrell, but the Giants will still have to make a corresponding roster move in order to create space on the 40-man roster. Burrell, who was signed to a minor league contract last week, was 5-for-16 (.313) with one home run and six RBI over five games for the Grizzlies.

In all honesty, I’m not that down on the move. It’s somewhat lateral – one guy who’s notoriously a .250 hitter and another who acts like one. One guy with shown power and another who we’re told has power. One guy with poor defense and another with just as poor defense. The plus side is Bowker gets to play everyday in Fresno and no longer has to play guess the lineup today with the big league club.

I’m sure we’ll be see Bowker before long.
