Fresh off a 4-2 (should have been 5-1) excellent showing versus the Cardinals and Phillies, the Giants will end their tough 9-game home stand versus the increasingly hated Rockies. The Rockies come into San Francisco just like the Phillies did, losers of 2 of 3 versus the Arizona Diamondbacks in Arizona. The Rockies sit 1.5 games behind the Giants in third place, trailing the NL West leading Padres by 3 games.
Barry Zito takes the mound against the Purple People Eaters tonight and hopes to continue his domination of the turdburglers. Zito has downright ownage on the Rockies, compiling a career ERA of 1.98 in 11 career starts. Troy Tulowitzki’s (NEIN!!!!!!!!!) bat against Zito is about as accurate as people’s attempts as spelling his last name correctly; he sits on a .172 career average against the soft tossing Zito in 29 plate appearances.
The Rockies will send out Esmil Rogers on Saturday and Jhoulys Chacin on Sunday (each making their first start of the season) to replace the injured De La Rosa and Jason Hammel. They’ll be challenged by Cain and Sanchez.
