For any of you traveling to Tuscon in hopes of seeing Tiny Tim – sorry to burst your bubble, but the two time Cy-Young winner is skipping the trip and will finish up the Spring schedule with his tilt against the Indians today. He’ll do a bit of training in Scottsdale and throw again versus Major League talent on the 26th of March which will be against the Angels.
In other pitching news, the Giants bullpen has got off to a strong start – a trend that the Giants expect to extend into the regular season. One time Dodger Guillermo Mota continued his hot Spring yesterday in a split squad game versus the San Diego Padres, tossing two scoreless innings. Giants skipper Bruce Bochy commented after the game that he really feels strongly about Mota making the Major League roster. In addition to Mota, Sergio Romo has had an even more impressive Spring, only allowing 2 hits in 20 at bats (.100 avg) and has yet to yield a run in any of his six appearances.
For those not on the Buster Posey train – you might want to start boarding. While he will still most likely start the season at Fresno, Posey has been raking it this Spring and there is some word that the Giants organization is really torn about sending him back down to Fresno. Posey is batting .368 for the Spring with a slugging percentage of .632.
