Penny & Uribe Turn Down Giants Offers

By Bryan Rose

The Giants offered their own free agents Juan Uribe and Brad Penny both one year offers which each player declined yesterday – the Giants are not continuing discussions with either player at this time.

Uribe’s contract was a flat one year offer but Penny’s one year offer had club and player incentives in the deal however those were not disclosed.

Penny went 4-1 with a 2.59 ERA in 6 starts for our Giants after he was signed as a free agent late in the season. Uribe, a career .257 hitter, clubbed 16 homeruns while hitting .290 going into the final day of the season in a career year. Uribe has informed the Giants he’s looking for a long term contract to which the Giants are not interested in.
