It’s been pretty quiet in the land of the Giants since the whole Lincecum Cy Weed Gate situation, but, things are starting to heat up this December. Here are some rumors to fuel your hot stove report:
Mets ‘heavy favorite’ to sign Molina – SI.com’s Jon Heyman believes the Mets are the “heavy favorite” to sign free agent catcher Bengie Molina this offseason after the Giants declined to offer Bengie arbitration. That will result in the Mets not having to give the Giants a draft pick if they do sign him.
Cubs, Giants interested in Betancourt – This rumor is starting to die down, but, both the Cubs and our Giants were seriously interested in the Rockies relief pitcher until late last week when the Rockies decided to offer Betancourt arbitration. The Giants don’t feel he’s worth a high round draft pick.
Giants in strong pursuit of DeRosa – Mark DeRosa never really got on track in St. Louis after the Giants missed out on him at the deadline this past season, but, they’re hoping he can regain his strong form from earlier in the season as they’re “very aggressive” in pursuit of the late bloomer, according to Fox Sports. The Giants might be in a battle for Mark though as the Cardinals will attempt to re-sign the power threat and the Phillies may enter the picture as well after letting go of one time Giant hot corner Pedro Feliz.
No More Noah – It started off with such promise…but after the falling out after what Noah Lowry feels was a mis-diagnoses by the Giants medical staff, the free agent pitcher is in contract talks with the Pittsburgh Pirates according to the Post-Gazette.
Dye Coming To San Francisco – This has been long rumored, and by long, I mean LONG…but T.R. Sullivan believes the ex-White Sox outfielder will be roaming the lushness of AT&T Park this coming season.
