<p>An all out Battle of the Bay is getting heated, and I&#8217;m not taking about a San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland A&#8217;s baseball game. According to the SF Chronicle and John Shea, <a title="San Jose sues MLB" href="http://www.sfgate.com/athletics/article/San-Jose-sues-MLB-over-A-s-blocked-move-4607373.php#photo-4359657">the city of San Jose has decided to sue Major League Baseball</a>. In case that make no sense at all to you, let me give you a really quick recap. Basically, the A&#8217;s want a new stadium, since their current dwelling is just short up a dump. The city of Oakland would like to keep the A&#8217;s but problem after problem seems to arise for them. Enter San Jose. San Jose is ready and willing to build a stadium, and has the money to do it.</p>
<p>The problem however is this. Back in the 90s, the A&#8217;s gave up their territorial rights to the South Bay to the Giants in what the Chronicle referred to as</p>
<blockquote><p>a favor because then-Giants owner Bob Lurie was trying to relocate to the South Bay from Candlestick Park.</p></blockquote>
<p>Despite the fact that the Giants never moved to the South Bay, and the multiple efforts by the A&#8217;s to regain rights and move into the South Bay, it appears the favor hasn&#8217;t been returned.</p>
<p>San Jose claims that MLB and Bud Selig specifically has stalled the decision-making of allowing them to move into Giants territory, and as a result, they&#8217;ve lost millions of dollars and hundreds of jobs.</p>
<p>The Chronicle continues, quoting part of the suit:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;This action arises from the blatant conspiracy by Major League Baseball to prevent the Athletics Baseball Club from moving to San Jose,&#8221; the suit says. &#8220;This action challenges &#8211; and seeks to remedy &#8211; defendants&#8217; violation of state laws and use of the illegal cartel that results from these agreements to eliminate competition in the playing of games in the San Francisco Bay Area.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Personally, I&#8217;m not sure what my opinion is on the matter. Do I want more Oakland fans invading San Jose? Heck no. Do I think Oakland deserves a better stadium? Of course. That place is a menace to society. I&#8217;d prefer they have a new stadium in Oakland, and I&#8217;m sure the city of Oakland would prefer that as well. However, territorial rights with two teams this close, and in different leagues, gets a little gray and muddy. I most certainly don&#8217;t think the Giants should back down, but if I were MLB, I&#8217;m not sure how I would feel about it.</p>
<p>So, I&#8217;m wondering what our loyal readers think? Should the Giants give up territorial rights? Should the A&#8217;s stick to Oakland or anywhere but San Jose or the South Bay?</p>

<p>A lovely Wednesday in the Bay Area brought about a pitcher&#8217;s duel at AT&amp;T Park between <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bumgama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Madison Bumgarner</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stulter01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Eric Stults</a></strong>. Bumgarner was <a title="fabulous" href="http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=28167747&amp;topic_id=vtp_head_and_shoulders&amp;c_id=mlb&amp;tcid=vpp_copy_28167747&amp;v=3" target="_blank">fabulous</a>, striking out eight in seven innings in front of AT&amp;T Park&#8217;s 200th consecutive sellout. It was odd not seeing <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/crawfbr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Brandon Crawford</a></strong> at short, but it&#8217;s always OK to see <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/scutama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Marco Scutaro</a></strong> starting things at second:</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/Ax2TNpY"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/Ax2TNpY.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>Things would get hot in the 2nd inning, as new nemesis <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?results=guzmaje01,guzman004jes&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Jesus Guzman</a></strong> got a pitch thrown behind him and tempers flared, benches cleared, but no punches were seen thrown</p>
<p><object width="400" height="254" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="scale" value="noscale" /><param name="salign" value="tl" /><param name="src" value="undefined/shared/flash/video/share/ObjectEmbedFrame.swf?content_id=28163709&amp;width=400&amp;height=254&amp;property=mlb" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed width="400" height="254" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="undefined/shared/flash/video/share/ObjectEmbedFrame.swf?content_id=28163709&amp;width=400&amp;height=254&amp;property=mlb" allowFullScreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" scale="noscale" salign="tl" allowfullscreen="true" /></object></p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/ThI8BMb"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/ThI8BMb.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>Madison Bumgarner was not afraid, seen yelling &#8220;come on!&#8221; multiple times. Scared of a confrontation, he was not.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/OpVtYFn"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/OpVtYFn.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>After this, the umpires issued a warning to both benches, <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bochybr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Bruce Bochy</a></strong> jokingly asked &#8220;Why?&#8221; and the two shared a laugh.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/sLUZKf8"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/sLUZKf8.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>Back to the baseball, as <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/beltbr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Brandon Belt</a></strong> blooped one to <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/blankky01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Kyle Blanks</a></strong> out in LF scoring the runner at third to tie the game at 1.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/VhlrM5I"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/VhlrM5I.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>The energetic Jesus Guzman would get his revenge on Bumgarner as he launched a mistake just over the cars in left field to give the Padres a 2-1 lead in the seventh.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/OwNhx3q"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/OwNhx3q.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>After <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/abreuto01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Tony Abreu</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?results=sanchhe01,sanche003hec&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Hector Sanchez</a></strong> got on base, <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/blancgr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Gregor Blanco</a></strong> continued the fun off of <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gregelu01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Luke Gregerson</a></strong> to deep CF for a triple, which he thoroughly enjoyed.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/DD2fYnm"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/DD2fYnm.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a fin for you:</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/WBlS7hn"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/WBlS7hn.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>Marco Scutaro would cap the scoring at 4 with a first pitch hanging pitch up the middle, and Blanco would come in to score.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/nAbTlIH"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/nAbTlIH.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>After Padres reliever <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rossty01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Tyson Ross</a></strong> struck out every batter he faced, and Giants rookie <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dunnija01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Jake Dunning</a></strong> played the role of set-up man (and got his first career hold), it was <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/romose01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Sergio Romo</a></strong> that came in and dominated. The final out was a 3-1 putout that clinched the series against the Padres.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/Z1Y1WCm"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/Z1Y1WCm.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>Romo, not a stranger to emotion himself, let out a roar of victory, showing that this land is his land.</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/Xh1LaxV"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/Xh1LaxV.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>No win would be complete without a victory jump &#8212; this one with high fives!</p>
<p><a href="http://imgur.com/JW5wORB"><img title="Hosted by imgur.com" src="http://i.imgur.com/JW5wORB.gif" alt="" /></a></p>
<p>I love winning. This series with the Padres was a very competitive one, and the Giants will indeed have more of these games with them in the future, even when <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/paganan01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Angel Pagan</a></strong>, and <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sandopa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Pablo Sandoval</a></strong> return. Every position player starter in today&#8217;s game for the Giants had a hit except for rookie sensation <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?results=perezju01,perezju02,perez-019jua,perez-020jua,perez-016jua&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-aroundthefoghorn.com" target="_blank">Juan Perez</a></strong>, and even the two pinch hitters in Blanco and Hector Sanchez got a hit themselves.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Miami Marlins will be coming in from Arizona to play the Giants for four games this weekend. The second place Giants are 1.5 games back of Arizona, whom will be idle tomorrow then have a home series against the Cincinnati Reds.</p>
