San Francisco Giants:A Look At The 2016 Schedule (May)

facebooktwitterreddit

The 2016 San Francisco Giants schedule is highlighted by several early matchups with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a meeting with a Panda later on. Here is a first look at May.

(Continued from previous)

The schedule in May doesn’t look too bad. There is a good stretch in the middle where the team doesn’t go any farther east than Arizona. And they also get the Blue Jays at home instead of traveling to Canada, which can sometimes be an issue (visas and such), especially when you are not used to it.

After finishing out their series with the New York Mets on Sunday the 1st. The San Francisco Giants fly to Cincinnati to face the Reds. Other than Joey Votto, the rest of the Reds will still be learning each other’s names still.

The small dimensions should provide a boost in offensive numbers, and Johnny Cueto will be able to give some decent scouting reports on those Reds that are still there. Monday, May 2nd-4th (4:10pm,4:10pm,9:35am)

The Giants return home for a four game set against the Colorado Rockies. The games feature promotions each night with Cinco de Mayo, Metallica Night, Superheroes and Comics as well as Brandon Crawford Bobblehead on the 7th and a tote bag giveaway on the 8th. Thursday, May 5th-8th (7:15pm,7:15pm,TBD,1:05pm)

After the Rockies leave, the Toronto Blue Jays come into town. This will be the first interleague play for the Giants, and will be against a quality opponent. The Blue Jays will be playing without the DH, since it is in San Francisco, so they will be at a slight disadvantage. Korean Heritage Night and University of San Francisco Night is on the 9th, and Japanese Heritage Night is the 10th. Monday, May 9th-11th (7:15pm,7:15pm,12:45pm)

The Giants then travel to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks in a four game set. Thursday, May 12th-15th (6:40pm,6:40pm,5:10pm,1:10pm)

After a day off on Monday, the Giants then play the Padres in San Diego. It’s a three gamer with all three games having TBD as the start times. Tuesday, May 17th-19th (TBDx3)

Then the Giants come back home to face the V+Chicago Cubs for three. The revamped Cubs should be one of the teams fighting it out at the end of the season. This series will be a good test as to where the Giants are competitively with other playoff hopefuls. There is a Buster Posey kids hamper on Sunday. Friday, May 20th-22nd (7:15pm,4:15pm,1:05pm)

The Padres then come in for three, which means they will take care of nearly half of their games with them within the first two months. There is a Filipino Heritage Night on Monday and a Bruce Lee Tribute Night on Tuesday. Monday, May 23rd-25th (7:15pm,7:15pm,12:45pm)

After an off day, the team then travels to Colorado to face the Rockies. And half of their season series will also be gone within the first two months. They will have traveled to Colorado twice after this trip, and won’t go back there until September. Friday, May 27th-29th (5:40pm,TBD,1:10pm)

And to round out the month, the team travels to Georgia to play the Atlanta Braves to start a four game set. The times for the games in this series have yet to be decided. Monday, May 30th-June 2nd (TBDx4)
