Richmond Flying Squirrels playoff bound

The San Francisco Giants Double-A affiliate, the Richmond Flying Squirrels, are the only minor league team in the Giants organization heading to the playoffs. They clinched their ticket on August 25th against the Altoona Curve.

The Flying Squirrels are 77-63 on the season with one remaining regular season game. Playoffs begin on September 3rd against Akron (73-67) in a best of 5-game series. The squirrels are 6-4 in their last 10 games. They are 4-3 against Akron this season.

Of course, they’ll be down relief pitcher Hunter Strickland, called up to the Giants for expanded rosters beginning tomorrow. They’re also down Matt Duffy who was call-up in August after Dan Uggla was cut from the team.

Best of luck to the Squirrels as they head into post season as the lone minor league team representing the San Francisco Giants organization.
