Cow Tipping with Erin: season wrap-up

For the season finale of “Cow Tipping”, I have picked my 4 favorite San Francisco Giants’ prospects who were featured each week here. They are listed in no particular order.

1)   Right Handed Pitcher Erik Cordier of the Fresno Grizzlies.  Cordier is wrapping up his season with a 4-3 record, 3.66 ERA with 51.2 IP in 46 games played. He has allowed 4 home runs, and has logged 67 strikeouts. He throws a fastball that travels up to 90-plus mph.

2)    Third Baseman Mark Minicozzi of the Fresno Grizzlies.  Minicozzi has had a hot season, with 14 home runs, 69 RBI, with a batting average of .305.  He has played in 94 games with 334 at-bats. He may be 31, which is considered “old” in Baseball Years, but age is obviously not stopping him.

3)   Centerfielder Gary Brown of the of the Fresno Grizzlies.  Brown is wrapping up his season with 9 home runs, 51 RBI, with a batting average of .268. He has played in 134 games with 527 at-bats. While not being on everyone’s radar this season, Brown has been able to concentrate on improving his swing.

4)   Shortstop Christian Arroyo of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Arroyo is wrapping up his season with 6 home runs, 62 RBI,  with a batting average of .287. He has played in 88 games with 359 at-bats.  Despite being on the 7-day DL earlier this season, Arroyo has been on fire.

As the lingering days of this season of Minor League Baseball come to a slow end, I am already looking forward to watching the Baby Giants play in the Futures Game at Spring Training and to see which prospects will have a chance in the Big Leagues.
