SF Giants vs Pirates Pre-game: Lineups, Susac first start, Pagan, Cain Updates

The San Francisco Giants are set to face the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 2 of the 3-Game series at 7:15 PM tonight. Tim Hudson (8-7, 2.65 ERA) will be on the mound for the Giants facing Francisco Liriano (2-7, 4.18 ERA).

Just for kicks, Liriano heads into the game with the exact same record and ERA as Giants pitcher Matt Cain.

The SF Giants will be looking to Hudson to stop the bleeding after a five game losing streak. They should have a good shot tonight against Liriano.

San Francisco Giants Lineup

You’ll notice that Andrew Susac will be getting his first start tonight, and he’ll be behind the plate. Buster Posey gets the “night off” to play first base. No major changes. Dan Uggla is back in the lineup tonight after getting last night off. He’ll be looking for his first hit as a Giant tonight.

Pittsburgh Pirates Lineup

In big news today, it was reported that Matt Cain to see Tommy John surgeon for 2nd opinion” href=”http://aroundthefoghorn.com/2014/07/29/matt-cain-see-tommy-john-surgeon-2nd-opinion/”>Matt Cain will be seeking a second opinion on his elbow from Dr. James Andrews, the man famous for doing Tommy John surgeries. While it’s not a guarantee yet, it’s not a good sign he’s going to see him. The visit will take place tomorrow.

Also, Angel Pagan is working out tonight and the Giants will know more after that work out as to whether he’ll be able to begin a rehab assignment.

And, if you missed it, it look like Brandon Belt will be heading back to the lineup fairly soon.
