The Giants head to Colorado for a quick 3 game trip starting tonight at 5:40 PT. There was a little bit of a surprise when the starting lineups were announced for today’s game. No Buster Posey or Angel Pagan for the Giants.
We all knew Pagan may not start the series after he sprained his shoulder the other night against Miami, but Posey was a surprise. John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that it’s nerve irritation in his back and Posey should not be out more than a couple of days.
Posey said he felt the back on swing Sunday and figures he won't miss more than couple days.

Pablo Sandoval is on a 9-game hitting streak, going 14 for 36 during that time. He has a first inning base hit in each of his last 7 games. According to Elias, that’s the longest such streak by a Giants player since Barry Bonds in 2006.
The last time LHP Madison Bumgarner (5-3, 3.25 ERA) and LHP Franklin Morales (3-3, 5.40 ERA) faced each other at Coors Field the Rockies won 2-1. That was the April game that Bumgarner threw a complete game and still lost. The Giants could only muster a Hunter Pence home run that night.
Troy Tulowitzki has been on fire for the Rockies this season. He leads the league with a .393 batting average, .494 on-base percentage, .764 slugging percentage, and a whopping 1.259 OPS. His 13 home runs lead the National League and Tulowitzki is second with his 35 RBI.
The Giants will need Gregor Blanco to continue doing his best Angel Pagan impersonation. Buster Posey has a .387 career batting average at Coors Field. He told Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News that pinch-hitting in tonight’s game is possible.
Posey said he thinks he can pinch-hit tonight if needed.
