San Francisco Giants Morning Commute – 5/18

Up first we wanted to pass along some sad news and pay our respects to our colleague from Lasorda’s Lair. Their Sr. Staff Writer, Kenny Shulsen, passed away on Thursday after a battle with some health issues. They may be our Dodger foes, but like I told them last night, baseball rivalry is on the field. This is real life, and here at Around the Foghorn, we’re sadden to hear about this. Kenny was a great baseball writer, great fan, and a great man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the crew at Lasorda’s Lair.

If you have a moment, stop off and read about Kenny and/or leave your condolences.

In Memoriam Kenneth (Kenny) Billings Shulsen 1969-2014

Angel Pagan injured his shoulder last night. He stayed in the game, but if you want to check out the video of the play, MLB has it right here. Sorry, the embed isn’t available today yet.

Pagan injures shoulder

Brandon Hicks thinks he hit the bag. Shawon Dunston disagreed.

Before last night, that is.

With Prince Fielder missing a game last night, due to a neck injury, Hunter Pence is the Iron Man now, and has the longest current streak of consecutive games played in MLB.

This is just kind of weird.

Player of the game was clearly Hector Sanchez.
