Pre-Game & Lineups: San Francisco Giants vs. Miami Marlins

The San Francisco Giants face the Miami Marlins tonight at AT&T Park for Game 3 of the 4-game series. Buster Posey will get the night off, and Gregor Blanco will be playing LF in place of Tyler Colvin. Otherwise, it’s a pretty standard looking lineup since the Brandon Belt injury. Game time is 6:05 PM PT.

Pablo Sandoval is in the 3-hole tonight with Posey out. Sandoval has hit .351 in his last 10 games, so I’m not freaking out so much over him being there. He also comes in with a 7 game hitting streak, including two doubles in last night’s game.

Tim Lincecum is coming off his best start of the season where he went 7.2 innings against Atlanta, giving up only 1 run and striking out 11. Let’s hope he’s still in good form tonight. Linececum has faired pretty well against this group of Marlins players. The good news is that he has good numbers against Garrett Jones, Casey McGehee, and Giancarlo Stanton. The bad news is that Jones has 2 home runs off him, and Stanton has 1.

The Giants have faced Tom Koehler on a limited basis. Gregor Blanco and Joaquin Arias have the best numbers against Koehler, both hitting .500 in limited at bats. It would likely explain why Blanco is in the lineup instead of Tyler Colvin. Hunter Pence also has a home run off Koehler. Michael Morse, Angel Pagan, and Brandon Hicks have never faced Koehler.
