The Giants and the Dodgers are back at it again Friday night down in Los Angeles. Tonight it’s LHP Madison Bumgarner (3-3, 3.18 ERA) for the orange and black against LHP Paul Mahom (1-2, 4.70 ERA) for the blue team. The Giants are 22-13, currently 1 game ahead of Colorado, and 3.5 games ahead of LA in the NL West. First pitch is at 10:10 PT.
This is the 8th game of a 10 game road trip for the Giants. So far they have gone 5-2 on the trip with the only losses coming in Pittsburgh. A win today would secure a winning road trip. This is also the third series with the Dodgers for the Giants in 2014. They have beaten LA in 5 of the previous 7 meetings.
The Dodgers have adjusted their lineup to face a lefty, but no changes to the Giants lineup for tonight’s game.

This is Madison Bumgarner’s 3rd start against the Dodgers this season. In his last start in LA, Bumgarner struck out 10 over 6.1 innings. That was over a month ago and Bumgarner has made some adjustments to his delivery since then. He is 6-2 with a 1.98 ERA in LA. That’s the lowest ERA among active pitchers (min. 50 inn).
Paul Maholm faces the Giants for a third time as well this season. He’s making his 6th start in 2014 and now half will be against the Giants. Earlier this season at Dodger Stadium the Giants lit Maholm up for 5 runs on 7 hits in just over 4 innings.
Giants hitters have a combined .313 lifetime batting average against Maholm. Most notable is Pablo Sandoval who is 7 for 19 (.368) with 2 career home runs off the Dodger left hander. One of those two home runs came in LA back in April.
The Giants bullpen continues to shine. After last night they now have 11 wins, most in the majors, and the lowest ERA for a bullpen at 1.77. Sergio Romo is 11 for 11 in save opportunities this season.
