Remember yesterday, or the day before, even the week before that. I remember saying, “ARGH! Stupid. No. Hits. RISP!” I left out the curse words but, it was something like that. Well, today was completely opposite as the Giants and Rockies combined for 9 long balls in an 11 inning thrilling 12-10 Giants victory.
The home runs for the Giants started with Michael Morse hitting a solo home run in the second inning. It was a solo blast that put the Giants on the Board. Brandon Hicks hit a solo home run in the top of the third. Also in the top of the third with two on and two out, Michael Morse hit his second home run of the game that tied it up. Fast forward to the top of the 7th inning and Brandon Belt continued his “Hit A Homerun In Every Ballpark” Tour with a 2 run blast that put the Giants ahead. Hector Sanchez hit a solo blast in the 8th inning to put the Giants ahead again but, it was his Grand Slam in the 11th that put the game away for the win.
MLB.com compiled all six homeruns. Here is the video.
Matt Cain went 6.0 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO, 2 HR. So, Matt Cain wasn’t “normal” Matt Cain today but, it was probably because the balls were flying out of the yard.Jeremy Affeldt pitched the seventh with 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, and 2 SO. He’s been effective since being activated from the DL. Santiago Casilla went 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB and a BS. Javier Lopez got two flyout for the two lefty’s he faced. Jean Machi got the win with his flawless 0.1 IP. Sergio Romo didn’t quite close the door after giving up a two run home run but, he got the save.
Stars of the game:
1st Star: Hector Sanchez
2nd Star: Michael Morse
3rd Star: Brandon Hicks
Fun Fact of the Day
