The Giants head to San Diego for the first time this season to open a three game series with the Padres. Matt Cain (0-2, 4.00 ERA) faces off against Tyson Ross (1-2, 3.12 ERA) as the Giants begin a 6 game road trip. First pitch is 7:10 PT. Cain pitched well his last time out going 7 innings and only allowing a Troy Tulowitzki sacrifice fly. It was the fourth 1-0 loss of his career.
The Giants have dominated the first game of every series this season going 5-0 in game one. They have played seven straight 1-run games. That’s the most in Giants history since the New York Giants played in 8 straight during August of 1910. Overall the Giants are 5-4 in one run games.
Last season the Giants went 11-8 against the Padres but only 4-6 at Petco Park.

Buster Posey and Michael Morse are not in the lineup for tonight’s game. They are available to pinch hit. The Giants only have one day off between now and May 19. Bruce Bochy may be trying to save some legs.
Bochy said Morse has teeny bit of hamstring tightness. He and Posey are available. Wanted Blanco, Adrianza in after good at-bats. #sfgiants

The Giants bullpen has been dominant during the month of April. The relievers have a combined ERA of 1.63 and lead the majors by a wide margin. The Padres are actually second with a 2.20 bullpen ERA. The whole Giants pitching staff has been accurate issuing the fewest walks (32) in MLB.
Petco Park may be what turns around Pablo Sandoval‘s hitting woes. The last time the Giants were in San Diego he went deep 3 times. Lifetime Pablo is a .310 hitter with 10 home runs in 46 games.
