Ryan Vogelsong looked strong in tonight’s Giants vs. Dodgers game (2 of 3) at AT&T Park. There were flashes of brilliance we saw the last two years and it felt good to see him return to form.

Don Mattingly challenged a call in the top of the 2nd inning when Matt Kemp dove back to first base and was called out. It was under review for 4 minutes and 25 seconds and the call on the field was upheld.

Buster Posey hit a single to left field to score Hunter Pence in the bottom of the third inning to lead the Dodgers 1-0.

Dee Gordon tripled to right field in the 6th inning that scored Paul Maholm (who Vogelsong walked), tying the game 1-1.

Vogelsong hit Hanley Ramirez with a pitch on the left hand in top of the 7th inning and was promptly taken out. (The x-rays later came back negative for a break on Ramirez’s hand.)

Joaquin Arias was walked in the 7th inning and advanced to second after Ehire Adrianza hit a sac bunt. Arias scored the go-ahead run after Pablo Sandoval hit a single up the middle.

Santiago Casilla entered in the 8th inning to face Drew Butera.  Butera hit a line drive to Belt and Yasiel Puig grounded to Pablo who threw Puig out at 1B. Javier Lopez came in to retire LH Carl Crawford.

Sergio Romo entered in the 9th inning and retired Turner, Gonzalez, and struck out Kemp for the third out, recording his 4th save of the season. The Giants beat the Dodgers 2-1 and have taken the series in game two.

Bruce Bochy has two Giants wins on his birthday. Jean Machi now leads the Giants with a 3-0 record.

The Giants are now first place in the NLW with a record of 10-5 .
