It wasn’t a good day for San Francisco Giants minor league affiliate teams after losing all but one game on a day that included two doubleheaders.
Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A)
The Fresno Grizzlies continued their early season struggles yesterday, dropping another 1-run game to Salt Lake in 12 innings. The final score was 4-5. They are now 1-5 on the season. Tony Abreu did his part, however, chipping in a double and a solo home run. Mike Kickham started the game for the Grizzlies, pitching 5.2 innings, allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs. Brett Bochy received the loss after pitching the final 2.1 innings and giving up a home run in the bottom of the 12th to C.J. Cron.
Richmond Flying Squirrels (Double-A)
The Squirrels played two games against Bowie yesterday after they were rained out on Monday. They split the two game, winning the first game 5-3 and losing the makeup game 1-2.
In the first game, the Squirrels jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. They added on one more insurance run in the 6th. In the second game, the only run the Squirrels could manage was a solo home run in the 2nd inning from Angel Villalona. Bowie took that game by score of 2-1.
San Jose Giants (High-A)
The SJ Giants lost to Lancaster yesterday, 2-4. This evens out their season record to 3-3. Despite jumping out with 2 runs in the top of the 1st, the Giants couldn’t get on the board again. Chris Stratton took the loss in the game, pitching 5 innings and allowing 9 hits and 4 earned runs.
Augusta GreenJackets (Low-A)
The GreenJackets also played two games yesterday due to a rainout on Monday. The dropped both games against Savannah. The first game was a 5-6 loss, and the second game was a 1-3 loss.
