The San Francisco Giants’ minor league affiliates were shut down yesterday – two by their opponents, two by rain on the East Coast.
The Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Low-A Augusta GreenJackets were both rained out yesterday. They both remain at a 2-2 record on the season. Those rained out games were both rescheduled as doubleheaders today.
The High-A San Jose Giants dropped a close one to Lancaster, 2-1. The SJ Giants led the game 1-0 from the 3rd inning on. However, Rio Ruiz of Lancaster hit a 2-run walk-off double in the bottom of the 9th to end the game. The SJ Giants are now 3-2 on the season.
The Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies dropped yet another game, and another chance to get just their 2nd win of the season. They fell to Salt Lake, 5-4 on the road last night. Familiar names, Andrew Susac and Tony Abreu both hit home runs, with Joe Panik chipping in a triple. The Grizzlies were off to a good start with a 3-1 lead heading into the top of the 4th, but a 4-run bottom of the 4th for Salt Lake gave them just enough to notch the win against Fresno. Chris Heston got the loss for the Grizzlies, giving up 9 hits and 5 earned runs in just 4 inning pitched. The Grizzlies are 1-4 on the season.
