Jarrett Parker hit a grand slam today in the game against the Rockies to tie it up in the bottom of the 8th inning. A lot of people have been asking, “Who is Jarrett Parker, I’ve never heard of him?”
The Giants drafted Parker in the 2nd round (74th overall) in 2010 and he signed with the team for $700,000. The Giants’ first round pick in 2010 was Gary Brown. Heath Hembree and Mike Kickham were 5th and 6th round picks in 2010. Parker was also named the Giants’ No. 20 prospect by MLB.com prior to the 2012 season.
Parker’s stats don’t look impressive on paper but what he did today was amazing. The grand slam he hit off veteran reliever Nick Masset cleared the centerfield wall by at least 30 feet. Bochy said he thought it went as far as 500 feet.
Jarrett Parker just hit a grand slam to CF that cleared the ~30-foot black batter’s eye wall. Wind’s blowing out but still…my goodness.

Minor league outfielder Jarrett Parker just hit a grand slam over the batter’s eye. Quite a statement in front of big league coaches.

Parker had excellent stats in the 2013 Arizona Fall League with the Scottsdale Scorpions. He had a .300 batting average in 60 at bats and can play every outfield position. If he continues hitting like he has the last 6 months, we could see him up in Fresno sometime this season with an invite next year to big league camp.
