This year I am making my first trip to Scottsdale, Arizona and San Francisco Giants Spring Training. I will be attending 3 Giants games in total, 2 at Scottsdale Stadium and 1 at Camelback Ranch in Glendale. As exciting as seeing these 3 games is and will be, the most exciting part of my trip occurs on the day I arrive. I land in Phoenix at 1:28pm local time on Thursday March 6th. Later that afternoon/evening I have purchased a ticket to a one of a kind experience, An Evening With Willie Mays, yes THAT Willie Mays. After seeing a couple of people, that I interact with on Twitter, talking about this event, I had to ask for more details and was sent a phone number to call and book the event, in which I did within minutes. This is not just an evening to be in the same room as the MLB Legend and Hall of Famer, with the purchase of a ticket, the ticket holder will get their picture taken and receive an autographed ball from the Giants Legend.  Ticket Holders are allowed to bring one guest, unfortunately the guest does not receive a picture and/or autographed ball. Below is the back of the ticket and includes all the details of what is included with the ticket.

As a big Giants and baseball fan in general, I could not pass up on this once in a lifetime experience. How often does a person get to say “I met Willie Mays and got my picture taken with him?” If you are going to be in the Scottsdale area on the 6th and are a baseball fan, I suggest this is something you seriously consider. You get your picture and a signed ball from Mays and get to be in the same room as him, which I would have paid the ticket price for alone (don’t tell the organizers I said that).

When I return home from Arizona, I will be doing a recap of this magical evening. I hope to see many of you there.

Editor’s Note: Around the Foghorn or Fansided is not associated with this event in any way, or is this any kind of endorsement. We just happen to love Willie Mays and are excited one of our team members gets to meet “The Say Hey Kid.”

If you are interested in the event, see details below.
