One year ago today, the San Francisco Giants won their 2nd World Series Championship in just 3 years in a sweep over the Detroit Tigers.
The cockroaches that wouldn’t die – that’s how San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabean described the team he built. And tonight, that never say die attitude concluded with the grandest prize of them all – a World Championship.
Despite climbing an unheard of and unscaled mountain in the National League Division Series that forced the Giants to win three straight on the road in Cincinnati, the Giants never gave in. They came back with a vengeance, but their momentum was quickly derailed after the St. Louis Cardinals put the Giants on the brink of elimination yet again. But alas, it wasn’t to be for the Red Birds as the Giants once more put together a historic comeback that resulted in their second World Series appearance in just three years.
