The Giants flew to New York after their Sunday win in LA against the Dodgers. With a day off yesterday, the lineup should be fresh and ready to take on the Mets today at 4:10pm PT.

Yusmeiro Petit (3-0, 2.53 ERA) will start for the Giants while Giants former prospect Zack Wheeler (7-5, 3.22 ERA) will start for the Mets. Since July 1, Wheeler has a 2.85 ERA, the 10th-lowest in the National League.
If you don’t already know, Wheeler was originally drafted by the Giants in the 1st round of the 2009 amateur draft. In July 2011, he was traded by the Giants to the Mets for Carlos Beltran. We all know how well that worked for us. In his last visit to AT&T Park in July, Wheeler gave up just one run and struck out five over seven innings in what was his best start in the majors.
Petit, ironically enough, was signed by the Mets in 2001 as an amateur free agent and was traded to the Marlins in 2005 for Carlos Delgado. I wonder how the Mets feel about that after his near-perfect game a few weeks ago.
Regardless, it will be an excellent matchup for both teams today. The Giants and the Mets hold similar records this season. Today is game one of a three game series and Jerry Seinfeld will be doing the announcing tonight. Should be pretty fun to listen to if you can get the Mets audio feed. Here are lineups:

I’m most excited to see what Hunter Pence is going to do tonight. He was named National League player of the week yesterday, hitting 6 HRs with 19 RBIs in seven days. He also had a .448 BA and 1.103 slugging percentage.
So obvi: Hunter Pence is the NL player of the week. In 7 games, he led majors with 6 HRs, 19 RBI, a 1.103 slugging % and 32 total bases.
