#SFGiants Minors Rundown: 8/21


 

Player of the Day: RHP Kendry Flores struck out 15 hitters and walked nobody over 8 innings in Augusta’s 2-1, 12-inning victory over Lexington Wednesday afternoon.  Over his last 10 starts Flores has struck out 10 or more 4 times, culminating in tonight’s 15 K effort.  Today’s strikeout total is the second most for a starting pitcher in a single minor league game in 2013.

Fresno Grizzlies – AAA Pacific Coast League

Highlights/News: (L 8-7) Las Vegas tied it up in the bottom of the 8th and walked off with a single in a tough loss for the Grizzlies Wednesday night.  C Johnny Monell hit his 20th HR of the season and # 9 prospect CF Gary Brown knocked out 4 hits for Fresno.

Richmond Flying Squirrels – AA Eastern League

Highlights/News: (W 4-3) Right-fielder Jarrett Parker hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 9th as Richmond defeated Harrisburg.  The dinger ties Parker for the franchise single-season HR record with Giants outfielder Roger Kieschnick and current Flying Squirrel Javier Herrera.  #11 prospect LHP Ediwn Escobar reached the organizational pitch limit for 2013 after just 1/3 of an inning.

San Jose Giants – High A California League

Highlights/News: (W 16-11) Crazy game from High A tonight- Stockton exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take an 11-5 lead over the Giants but San Jose bounced right back with 5 of their own to make it 11-10 in the top-half of the 8th.  Myles Schroder knocked in the tying run with a single in the top of the 9th sending the game to extra innings.  San Jose pushed 5 across in the first-frame of extras to seal the victory in a wild one.  All told, San Jose scored 13 runs in the final 4 innings.  Right-fielder Mac Williamson hit his 22nd HR of the season for the Giants.
