Vogelsong Sharp In Rehab Start

San Francisco Giants RHP Ryan Vogelsong was sharp in his 3rd rehab start today, going 5 innings with 5 hits 0 runs 3K’s and 1BB for the AA Richmond Flying Squirrels.  Vogelsong threw 64 pitches, 42 of them for strikes.

Meanwhile in Philadelphia, Barry Zito had another road start.

Zito only lasted 3.1 innings, giving up 5 hits 4ER 2BB 2K’s and a 2 run HR to Philly catcher Carlos Ruiz.  Zito threw 82 pitches, including a dismal 45 in the 1st inning.

Zito remains winless on the road this year (not counting his “road” start at AT&T Park) with a 9.97 ERA.

Could this be the last time we see Barry Zito on the road this season?  The last time as a starter period?  Somehow I doubt it, but it is nice to see Ryan Vogelsong on the cusp of returning.
