Don’t Be That Fan: Proposing Trades Track

facebooktwitterreddit

The Reds and Giants are currently involved in a hit-fest, and only one of them is scoring runs with those hits. Update: Giants just got an XBH. Up is down, white is black. Ok they just lost.

This article is about fans trying to make trades. Some fans make trades in their video games and get so proud of their video game GM abilities they want to bring their knowledge to social media to grace us with their ideas of gold. Their ideas are gold, though, just not the type of gold the GMs value. More the ones the people like to laugh at. DJ, drop that track:

Larry has started the flow with some emphasis on the upbeat. He has my attention, only because I know there’s an avalanche coming, and that avalanche is not composed of beautiful powder snow, but something stinky:

He’s of course referencing the outfielder Nelson Cruz and his boomstick whom probably will be suspended. Jurickson Profar, the #7 prospect in all of baseball before the 2012 season and the #1 prospect before this season, is Larry’s target. This is not a post telling you it will not happen. This is a post telling you that a serious suggestion like this makes Giants fans look sad, desperate, and unknowledgeable, especially since he’s a bigger voice in the Bay Area, his opinions will look like more of a representation of the fanbase than mine will. Essentially what is being said is Hunter Pence is a premier talent that demands premiere promise, to which he is not. He’s a pretty good talent that would get the Giants pretty good talent in return (although were they be “blown away” in an offer, wouldn’t that require better future talent?). It’s not that this is a “my trash for your treasure” type of trade, this is trying to make up for the Zack Wheeler for Carlos Beltran trade, but instead of Carlos Beltran, you’re using Hunter Pence.

“It’s a seller’s market” is correct with so many teams in contention, but I sincerely doubt Texas GM Jon Daniels would be so irresponsible to use Profar on Hunter Pence. The trade rumors of Profar for Oscar Taveras or Giancarlo Stanton were so much more entertaining especially since they were so much more realistic. Top prospect for another top prospect or another great talent. This one is groan-worthy at best. As a Giants fan would you be happy with it if you thought this season was done with? I hope so, although that creates some problems with the infield, but that’s not something I’m going to further discuss here.

This post started with a music theme and then transitioned into criticism. As an apology, I’ll link to this because this is always entertaining.

Be careful when you propose trades, kids. Maybe we’ve all been massively trolled tonight, but knowing the way people talk about Krueger, I get the feeling like this proposal was made with confidence, and hopefully with knowing if it’s only SF and TEX talking, Pence stays in SF for 2013.
