Bumgarner Gets 10th Win; Giants 4, Padres 2

Giants Finally Win; Giants 4, Padres 2

Mr. Consistent for the year, Madison Bumgarner, pitched good. 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, and 6 SO. His first inning was shaky when he gave up three hits in a row to score two but, then retired 20 of the next 21 hitters. Sandy Rosario and Sergio Romo shut the door in innings 8 and 9.

Perhaps the greatest victory in this game was the 4-15 with runners in scoring position stat. To put it in perspective, the Giants were 8-63 with RISP during the last few weeks.

Pablo Sandoval started the scoring for the Giants with a Home Run in the fourth inning. The ball was thrown below his ankles but, Sandoval was able to golf it out. We need to send thank you notes to the Padres for bringing in the fences because last year, that Home Run would have been an out.

Kensuke Tanaka got the first hit with RISP with a bases loaded single in the sixth inning. He was the shot in the arm the Giants needed. Later in the eighth inning Tanaka led off the inning with a single off Luke Gregerson and then proceeded to steal second base. After Brandon Crawford grounded out to move Tanaka to third, Gregor Blanco hit a ground rule double to left field. Then Marco Scuturo grounded into a fielder’s choice, Buster Posey hit a two out single to score Gregor Blanco.

Blanco had a good game with three hits, Posey had two hits and Tanaka had two hits. All of the position players had one hit in this game. Hopefully a sign of good things to come.
