Is Matt Cain Injured?

Matt Cain threw 36 pitches in the 1st inning of the Giants vs. Mets game today with only 2 out. He allowed 3 early runs to score, and apparently has thrown over 100 pitches in his last 3 innings, going back to his last game where he only last 2.1 innings against the Dodgers.

There is no apparently injury here, but with Bruce Bochy being so overly cautious with Cain, and with the odd recall of Mike Kickham yesterday, it makes me wonder if something else is going on with Cain. Mike Kickham replaced Cain today, and finished the inning out with 4 pitches.

I finally gave up on him in fantasy baseball. He killed me. I was keeping him for the K’s, but forget that.
