Prospect lists may be one of the best ways to generate site hits, and the organizations that write about prospects for a living have figured that out. Baseball America just released its Midseason Top 50 prospects list and had 49th overall pick in the 2011 draft RHP Kyle Crick as #49 in their Top 50 despite his two month absence with an oblique injury. Here’s some video of his start against Modesto where he struck out ten, and you can see how good that fastball is, and the slider isn’t too bad either:
That video taken by sfgiantpotential.com, and he’s put together some other good quality videos as well.
In the 2013 season, the 20-year old Crick has a 1.46 ERA, 2.19 FIP, and a 38.1% K% during his time at High-A San Jose. Hopefully after watching that video and checking the numbers, you get an idea of why I don’t want this guy being traded from the organization this year.
