Nick Noonan Optioned to Make Room for Pablo Sandoval

After the 7-2 loss to the Miami Marlins, the Giants optioned Nick Noonan to Fresno to make room for Pablo Sandoval, whom will be activated off the 15-day DL tomorrow before Monday’s game with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In 90 plate appearances in 2013, Noonan has batted .212/.256/.235 with a .207 wOBA and a 29 wRC+. The other infielder on the bench, Tony Abreu, is a switch hitter, so he gives manager Bruce Bochy a little more flexibility off the bench. The Giants have not posted an infield lineup of Brandon Belt, Marco Scutaro, Brandon Crawford, and Pablo Sandoval since Monday, May 27th against the Oakland A’s.
