The Carolina All-Stars defeated the California All-Stars 12-2 on Tuesday evening at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, CA, home of the Class A Advanced Affiliate San Jose Giants. San Jose Giants manager Andy Skeels led the California League against Lynchburg Hillcats’ manager, Luis Salazar. CAR scored five runs in both the 4th and 5th innings and CAL committed a record four errors in the game.

RHP Luke Jackson (selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round, 45th overall, of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft) secured the win for the Carolina League while RHP Drew Granier (selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 32nd round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft) took the loss for the California League.

The San Jose Giants, often referred to as the ‘baby Giants,’ had eight players selected for the California League All-Star game this season. Outfielder Devin Harris, left-handed pitchers Ty Blach, Edwin Escobar and Josh Osich, first baseman Angel Villalona (DH) and catcher Jeff Arnold all took the field Tuesday at Municipal Stadium. Right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland and infielder Ryan Cavan were selected but were unable to participate due to injury.
