On this day in Giants history, May 23, 1970, the Giants lost a 15 inning game to San Diego by score of 17-16 at Candlestick Park. Despite the loss, Willie Mays went 4-6 in the game and hit 2 home runs. Juan Marichal started the game for the Giants, but only pitched 2.2 innings, giving up 5 hits, 5 earned runs, and 2 home runs early on.
