San Francisco Giants Sign Gregor Blanco To One Year Deal

The numbers just keep coming in. In addition to Hunter Pence and Jose Mijares, the San Francisco Giants also agreed to terms with Gregor Blanco today on a one year, $1.35 million dollar deal which will avoid arbitration for the parties.

With the addition of Andres Torres, Blanco will move more into a platoon role (well, MORE of a platoon role?!) now but it’s a fair salary for the speedy Blanco, who will provide solid defense and speed off of the Giants’ bench, when he’s not spot starting.

There wasn’t much wiggle room for the Giants with Blanco given his low salary from last season, so a trip to the arbitrator was essentially pointless for both parties.
