Non-Giants News: Jonathan Sanchez DFA'd

The writing was on the wall all season. Giants fans and even all of baseball knew that the Melky Cabrera for Jonathan Sanchez (and then some) trade was the best trade of the off-season. Sanchez has struggled in Kansas City all season, and that’s when he’s been off the disabled list. Cabrera on the other hand has flourished like never before in San Francisco.

Sanchez had been toeing the line of bad and awful all season long, but then this happened in his last start on July 16:

1.1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 HR, 1 BB

His season was 1-6 with a 7.76 ERA.

Unless someone picks him up, he’ll be spending time in the Royals minor league system.

Are there any teams out there that would be willing to take a chance on Dirty and his bum arm? In all sincerity, I hope he can do what needs to be done to fix his arm and get back in the game before his career ends, but it’s not looking good for the sometimes great/sometimes wild former Giants pitcher.
