Not sure who Russell Mitchell is? No worries, you’re probably not alone. The 27 year old infielder who spent parts of the last two seasons with the Dodgers was signed by the Giants yesterday with intentions of providing some infield depth throughout the organization. Mitchell batted just .151/.208/.290 over 101 plate appearances the last two seasons with the Dodgers, but does bring a solid glove to the game. He’s a career .265/.325/.444 hitter, but shouldn’t see any Major League action outside of an expanded roster call-up in the seasons final month.
Michell was assigned to Double-A Richmond.
No word on if they put him through the decontamination machine before putting on a Squirrels uniform.
