Both teams enter this game after successful last series. The Chicago Cubs swept the San Diego Padres, and the Giants took two out of three from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Madison Bumgarner (LHP, 5-4 3.14 ERA) will face off against Paul Maholm (LHP, 4-3 4.62 ERA).
Maholm has struggled in the end of May, and hopes to start the month of June off right against the Giants.
Similarily, Bumgarner has not been as impressive in his last four starts, going 0-3 and allowing four earned runs in each off the losses. He is looking to get back on track, and the Cubs may be the team to get it going against. Bumgarner has a 2-1 record against Chicago in four starts, with a 2.03 ERA, 29 strikeouts and Cubs are batting .230 against the southpaw.
Last season the Cubs had a winning record against the Giants, going 5-4 in their nine meetings.
