Giants’ Closer Brian Wilson Confirms His Season Is Over

There was some hope – be it extremely marginal – but still, hope that Brian Wilson‘s injury wasn’t as devastating as initially reported and the Beard would return to the mound at some point in 2012.

Unfortunately, that wont be the case.

Wilson, speaking with Baggs earlier today confirmed that his 2012 season is indeed over and he will go under the knife for his second Tommy John operation:

Wilson says his season is over. Had whimsical take on it. Called it a minor thing to miss a season because he plans on pitching forever.

At least Wilson continues to put on a brave face and show some humor in such a terrible time for the orange and black faithful.

Wilson, according to Baggs, will rehab in the City and spend as much time at the ballpark with the rest of the crew as possible. He still will go for a second opinion before going under the knife, but he himself admitted he’s all but resigned to the fact that it’s a necessity – one that he’s been dealing with since 2010.
