Giants Sign Gregor Blanco

Matt Eddy’s tweet from this morning:

Octagon Baseball reports that its client CF Gregor Blanco signed with Giants. LH-hitting, 27-year-old CF coming off lost year in Triple-A.

Good news all around. He’s young, he can fill in the gaps in the outfield, and he’s touting a .287 batting average in the Venezuelan Winter League. Okay, so his average was around .201 in Triple-A last year, but with an OBP of .349, I think there’s room for him.

No word yet on where the Giants plan on placing him–for that matter, no word on where Torres or Ross are going, either–but it’s nice to see them making moves in the right direction.
